Synthetic fiber commonly used in the place of wool or cotton.
Acrylic fiber was invented in 1941 by Dupont Corporation, which trademarked it as Orlon.
It was released commercially in 1947 and mass produced in the 1950s.
It’s a strong and warm fabric that has a good fit, used in tracksuits and knitwear as well as boot linings, gloves, coats, jackets and slippers.
Acrylics fantasy brands are: Acrilan and Orlon.
