James Mischka is a designer born on December 23 of 1960 in Burlington, Wisconsin.
He new up in Malibu, California, and later when he was 12, moved again to New Jersey; a fact that he did not take it well, since he was used to the easy cheerful, hippie lifestyle of Malibu, and found a more down to earth, serious style in New Jersey.
When he was in his senior year of high school, he won a National Merit Scholarship, and in the next year enrolled at Rice University, to study biomedical engineering. Later he switched to a arts-management course in Houston, Texas.
He moved again to New York, and in 1982 started studying at Parsons School of Design.
There he met Mark Badgley, a colleague that would soon became his lover and business partner.
In 1985 he and Mark graduated at Parsons, and his next move was to start working at Yves Saint Laurent. Next he got a job as assistant designer at Willi Smiths menswear collections.
Finally in 1988 he and Mark decided to quit their jobs and start their own brand named Badgley Mischka.
Currently James and Mark are married and still working as designers of their brand Badgley Mischka.
